Columba Systems was created in April 2002 by a number of ex-Reuters' employees to exploit a gap in the market for the provision of future event systems and data. The founders had previously conceived, developed and successfully launched a future events business, known as Kalends, for Reuters. The launch of that product stimulated approaches from large investment banks for a more personalised solution. As a consequence the founders left Reuters to start Columba Systems to respond to that need.
Columba Systems has developed a complete portfolio of web-based knowledge management products, defined a mark-up language for future events (FutureML) and built a rich database of financial future event data. Columba Systems has also sold its products and data to some of the world's largest and most successful investment banks, hedge funds and fund managers.
